Since the start of Phoenix Academy, our school has created some very special traditions that we have kept through the years. These are some of the events and activities we have cherished.

Each year our K-2nd students get to dress up in a costume and parents are invited to a parade to see everyone’s creativity. Each class gets to enjoy a fall festival party! Each K-5 class decorates a pumpkin for our annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest! Our 3-5th graders get to dress up as their favorite story book character or historical figure. Our 5th graders put on a “wax museum” and dress as their favorite person in history. They prepare a report, and parents as well as students are invited to come and ask questions and learn about the different historical figures.

After Thanksgiving, we set up a holiday shop for our K-5 students to come shop for presents for their family members. We have gifts for all ages! Most gifts range in price from $1 to $5. Parent volunteers come in and help our students shop and each gift is wrapped and tagged for our students to give to their family and friends. This is a favorite activity for our students each year and a great fundraiser for the school.

In January we like to host a Pizza and Bingo Night for families to have fellowship, dinner and some fun games of Bingo. We give out fun donated prizes to the winners. This is a great night to meet fellow Phoenix Families and beat the winter blues!

Each Spring we put on an event called International Night. The students at our school come from many different cultures. We have families from many different countries participate. We invite our families to set up a table and provide information about their native country and it’s heritage. Families dress in their country’s native clothing and even cook food for people to sample. It is a magnificent cultural experience!

Every year in the fall and the spring, each of our campuses hosts a book fair! This is a great opportunity for students to purchase books from their favorite authors and embrace their love of books. During each fair we host a family night where families can shop and purchase books and other educational items. All proceeds from our bookfairs enable us to fill our libraries each year with brand new books! Parents volunteer throughout the length of the book fair to help everything run smoothly!
